Research Focus
I received my B.S. and M.S. from the University of Illinois. My research involves screening commercial lines nominated by growers and seed companies in Illinois for resistance to sudden death syndrome (SDS), Sclerotinia stem rot (SSR), Phytophthora root rot (PRR), soybean aphid, and soybean mosaic virus for the Varietal Information Program for Soybeans (VIPS) in the greenhouse. Diseases such as frogeye leaf spot and green stem disorder are also scouted and rated at Variety Testing field locations if widespread infection occurs. I try to improve upon the experimental methods and inoculation techniques used for screening soybeans with various pathogens.
